Harmony Road Class Registration 

Before continuing with registration, please review our Group Class policies and Procedures.

HARMONY ROAD CLASS POLICIES

Welcome to the Harmony Road program! Please familiarize yourself with our school policies and let us know if you have any questions. We can’t wait to make music with you!

TUITION AND FEES

  • Tuition and registration fees can be paid in full, or in 4 or 5 monthly installments (full semester classes only). A $75 registration fee will be collected upon registration, which will be applied towards your tuition payment, or first installment. Tuition will be charged within 7 days before the start of your full class.

  • If you choose to pay in monthly installments, you agree to enroll in automatic billing for your remaining tuition payments. Should the student withdraw more than 7 days prior to the start of the class, this fee will be refunded. If the student withdraws within 7 days of the start date of the class, this fee is non-refundable and will be charged as agreed upon signing your registration contract.

PARENT ORIENTATION MEETING

  • Parents are strongly encouraged to attend a parent orientation meeting within the first month of class. Dates are TBA and will be released before the start of the semester. Meetings will be on zoom. Experience has shown that students and families whose parents/caregivers attend the orientation have greater success in the program, as caregivers who are aware of class learning outcomes and method are better prepared to be co-participants in the learning process.

CHARTER SCHOOLS AND HOMESCHOOL PROGRAMS

  • Heart Beats is a vendor with Inspire Charter School. If you are with another charter or homeschool program, we would be happy to consider becoming a vendor. Please let us know ahead of time. If we do not have sufficient time to complete the vendor process before your first class, you are responsible for tuition and registration fees. For all programs, you are responsible for any costs not covered by your institution.

ATTENDANCE POLICY

  • No refunds or credits will be given for missed classes.

  • If you need to miss a class, please call or email 24 hours in advance. This makes you eligible to schedule a make-up by reserving a spot in a similar class held on a different day of the week, and opens up a space for another student to take a make-up class.

    • Please note that make-up classes are not guaranteed, and while our program is in its growing stage a make-up class may not be available.

  • Please do not attend class if you or your child are ill. Call us to arrange to make up a class.

  • If you are a registered student in Music in Me & More Music in Me, your make-ups may be used at any time. If you are not planning to register for the next session, you must use up your make-ups during the current session.

  • For Harmony Road and Young Musician students, make-ups are not guaranteed, but we'll do our best to schedule you into another class at the same level if there is room. Maximum 2 make-ups per semester.

  • Your teacher will ensure you have the homework from any missed class.

  • Each lesson includes important new concepts as well as review and reinforcement of the ongoing curriculum. While most people have to be absent occasionally, we encourage you to make music class a priority

TEACHER ABSENCE

  • Every effort will be made to obtain a substitute teacher if your teacher is not available. If that is not possible, your class will be rescheduled.

TERMINATION OF ENROLLMENT

  • Enrollment in a 16-. 18-, or 20-week course indicates your commitment to attend class for the whole semester. Since our program is designed for a minimum of 3 students per class, your withdrawal can cause cancellation of the entire class. We urge you to carefully consider your decision and remain enrolled until the end of the semester. If you wish to withdraw from a group class, no refunds will be issued for materials, semester tuition, or fees. If you are paying in installments, you will continue to be billed as agreed until your tuition is paid in full. Heart Beats reserves the right to cancel or discontinue any class for which enrollment is/becomes insufficient, and to modify class enrollment with prior notice. Cancelled or discontinued classes will result in a refund of all remaining tuition.

  • Any class that drops to 2 students may be adjusted in length as deemed appropriate. Students may be asked to join another class time the following semester/session.

IN CLASS

  • A parent or caregiver is required to attend the class with the student. Parents will participate in class activities along with their child, including singing and dancing!

  • Parents must make their own arrangements for the supervision of any other (non-enrolled) children under their care during class time. No additional children or guests will be allowed in the classroom. Older siblings may wait in the lobby if necessary if they can behave responsibly, but we encourage you to make arrangements whenever possible.

AT HOME

  • Students and parents will share in weekly assigned at-home activities together. This is an essential part of students’ music education! Each week your teacher will assign you activities to practice at home to reinforce class concepts, and to make music-making a family activity and bonding experience. Practicing every day will give your child the best foundation for learning and good habits for the future! At a minimum, please plan to practice 3 days a week outside of class time.

EQUIPMENT

  • Toddler Tunes: a piano or keyboard is not required.

  • Music in Me, More Music in Me: A piano or keyboard is recommended for Music in Me, but not required. Although acoustic piano is our first choice, a touch sensitive keyboard can work for teaching the very young.

  • Harmony Road 1 or higher, an instrument is required, and an acoustic piano or digital piano with weighted keys is recommended. Fortunately, there are affordable rent and rent-to-buy programs, and digital pianos are available and can be used until the student is ready for more serious piano study later down the road. RECITALS

  • Students in Harmony Road bk 1 and up (ages 4.5+) are invited to participate in our 3 yearly recitals along with our private lesson students. This is a wonderful opportunity to share and celebrate what we’ve learned, and seeing more advanced students perform is so inspiring for every student! Recital dates and locations will be announced at the beginning of each semester.

CALENDAR

  • We observe the following holidays and breaks. There will be no classes on these dates. Your class dates have been planned around these dates and will conclude once all classes in a 16- or 18-week course have been completed.

    • Labor Day

    • The week of Thanksgiving

    • Two weeks at Christmas, dates TBA.

    • 1 week Spring break, TBA

    • Memorial Day

    • 1 week each summer, TBA (usually in July)

COVID-19 SAFETY POLICIES

  • Your safety and the safety of all our families and teachers is very important to us. We regularly sanitize frequently-touched surfaces. Hand sanitizer is available in the lobby. Masks are available upon request.

  • Mask policy: At the beginning of the 2023 winter/spring semester, we will no longer be requiring masks in our group classes. Please note that due to limited space, we are not able to enforce social distancing in our group classes. We reserve the right to reinstate a firm mask policy at any time.
