About Piano Lessons

Joyful Music-Making

We believe that making music should be a source of joy and fulfillment. That's why our piano lessons are designed to inspire and uplift, creating a positive and supportive environment where students can flourish.

A Whole Student Approach

We understand that music education is not just about playing the notes; it's about nurturing the whole student. Whether you are searching for piano lessons for your 4- or 5-year-old or for adult piano lessons, we believe that learning music is an essential part of personal development. Our holistic approach ensures that every aspect of your musical journey is supported and celebrated.

Commitment to Excellence

At Heart Beats, we are committed to musical excellence. Our dedicated piano instructors focus on teaching good technique and providing every student with a solid foundation in music theory, sight-reading, ear training, and more. With our comprehensive curriculum, you'll develop the skills and confidence to become a well-rounded musician.

Exploration of Diverse Genres

Music knows no boundaries, and neither do we. From classical piano to pop, jazz, contemporary, composition, improvisation, and beyond, we expose beginning students to a wide range of genres and styles. Whether you're passionate about Beethoven or Beyoncé, we'll help you explore your musical interests and expand your horizons.

Passionate (& Compassionate) Guidance

Above all, we're committed to helping each student find their passion and pursue their goals. That dream could be performing on stage, writing your own music, or simply playing for your own enjoyment. Whatever it may be we're here to support you every step of the way.

The Lessons

  • Your trial piano lesson is free—we want to make sure Heart Beats is a good fit for you and the teacher!

  • Piano lessons are weekly in 30-, 45-, or 60-minute increments, based on preference and teacher recommendation.

  • There are 47 lessons per year. Tuition is divided into 12 monthly payments for your convenience.

  • Students receive an assignment sheet to guide their at-home practice. Parents of students are welcome to sit in on all lessons.

Performance opportunities

Recitals are held three times a year at Halloween, in February, and in early June. We maintain a positive, encouraging, and supportive environment to help students build confidence and conquer their fears to share their gifts. Additional performances, including competitions, are available with some teachers. Our piano students have performed and received honors and awards in the MTAC Baroque Festival, Memorial Scholarship Recital Competition, MTAC Conventions, and more! Whether you're seeking competitive challenges or celebratory recitals, we provide platforms for you to showcase your hard work and shine as a musician.

Musicianship Classes

Once per quarter, students attend a group class instead of their regular piano lesson. Group classes cover music theory, history, appreciation, art, games, and performance practice. These musicianship classes are a great way to build community and cover musical concepts more in depth. Students can sign up for any age-appropriate class that fits their schedule during the week.

Certificate of Merit

Our MTAC certified instructors offer the Certificate of Merit Program to our most focused, driven students. In this 10-level curriculum, students and teachers work together on repertoire, technique elements, sight reading, theory, and ear training. Students participate in an annual performance evaluation and receive a musical assessment, complete a written theory exam which includes an ear training component.
