🎶 Musicianship Week at Heart Beats Music School 🎶
What is Musicianship Week?
Musicianship Week is a special part of our curriculum where students attend a group class instead of their private lesson. These interactive classes allow students to explore new musical concepts, develop ensemble skills, and experience music in a fun, engaging way.
Each Musicianship Week is built around a unique theme, offering students a chance to dive deeper into different styles, composers, and aspects of music.
🎬 Past Themes: Movie Music, Jazz, Debussy & the Impressionists, and more!
✨ Coming Soon: Latin Composers, Taylor Swift, Broadway, and more!
Who Attends?
All private students aged 18 and under participate in Musicianship Week. These classes are included in your tuition and are a core part of the well-rounded music education we provide.
Piano students are grouped by grade level:
🎹 TK-2nd Grade Musicianship
🎹 3rd-6th Grade Musicianship
🎹 7th Grade & Up Musicianship
Piano students may also choose to attend a Practice Lab, where they practice independently with headphones on while a teacher walks around to listen and guide their practice. These sessions include individual feedback and a short lesson on music theory, ear training, or the week’s theme.
We also offer specialized classes for violin, guitar, and voice students, ensuring every student gets the most out of their Musicianship Week experience.
Why is Musicianship Week Important?
At Heart Beats Music School, we believe that music is more than just playing an instrument—it’s about listening, collaborating, improvising, and understanding music on a deeper level.
🎶 A Well-Rounded Music Education – Musicianship classes cover important skills more in depth, such as ensemble playing, ear training, and musical creativity.
🤝 Collaboration & Confidence – Learning in a group setting builds confidence, teamwork, and the ability to adapt musically with others.
🎼 Exploring New Styles – Each session introduces students to different musical genres, history, and techniques, broadening their musical horizons.
📆 Make-Up Lesson Opportunity – If you’ve missed a lesson this quarter, Musicianship Week is a great way to make it up!
⏳ Please Note: Missed Musicianship Week classes cannot be made up except by attending another Musicianship class the same week.
Participation in Musicianship Week is mandatory because it is an essential part of your tuition and the value we provide to every student. We encourage families to take full advantage of these engaging, high-quality classes!
How Does It Work?
🔹 Musicianship Week occurs four times a year, replacing private lessons for that week.
🔹 The schedule changes slightly each quarter and will be sent out 3-4 weeks in advance so families have plenty of time to choose the right class.
🔹 Students can sign up for any class that matches their grade level and/or instrument.
How to Sign Up
You’ll receive an email with the class schedule and a link to register through your Student Portal. Sign-ups typically close 48 hours before each class to allow us time to prepare materials.
If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to Kara at info@heartbeatsmusicschool.com. We can’t wait to make music with you during Musicianship Week! 🎶✨
